Celebrate Red Ribbon Week/Prevention Month (October), the nation's longest running substance use prevention campaign. As part of Red Ribbon Prevention month, Wiley and McClave Schools, along with Prowers County are partnering to host the Colorado National Guard and Drug Enforcement Administration assembly for students on October 7 (K-4th grade) and October 8 (5-8th grade). As part of the assembly the Colorado National Guard will be landing a helicopter on the Wiley football field and delivering a message about the importance of drug-free living and making positive choices . Red Ribbon Week Prevention Month raises awareness of drug use and the problems related to drugs facing our community, and encourages parents, educators, business owners, and other community organizations to promote drug-free lifestyles. We are excited about these assemblies on Monday and Tuesday morning. Thank you Colorado National Guard, Prowers County, the McClave, and Wiley communities for supporting healthy, drug free kids!

Dear Wiley Community,
I hope this message finds you well. I'm writing to inform you of the memorial service for our dear colleague, Bart Michael, who passed away on September 28.
The service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 10:00 am at the Wiley School Gym with Pastor Mark Imel of the Eads First Christian Church officiating. This will be a time for us to come together, honor Bart’s memory, and support one another during this difficult time.
Bart touched the lives of many within our school community, and his contributions will not be forgotten. I encourage all who are able to attend to share in this moment of remembrance.
If you would like to contribute to a memorial fund or share your memories, please reach out to Peacock Funeral Home. https://www.peacockfuneralhome.com/obituaries/bart-michael
Thank you for your support and compassion as we navigate this loss together.
Warm regards,
Erin Brophy, Superintendent

It's Family Engagement Friday, and we're highlighting the Santa Fe Trail BOCES Region! They recently organized a Regional Kickoff for the 2024-25 school year to support their school districts, which include Cheraw School District 31, Kim School District, East Otero School District R-1, Las Animas School District, Rocky Ford School District R2, Swink School District 33 and Wiley Consolidated School District RE-13Jt.
The event focused on family, school, and community partnerships and the multi-tiered system of supports. The BOCES shared promising partnership practices that have been successful in turning transactional partnerships into transformational partnerships. They celebrated and collaborated on high-impact strategies to build positive relationships and a sense of belonging with their schools, families, and community partners. It was a day of learning and collaborating across the Santa Fe Trail BOCES region that left them looking forward to a meaningful school year!
