Back to School Night
We will have a back to school night and open house for all Wiley students and families on Monday August 16th from 5:00-7:30 PM. Come and meet your teachers and have a look around at the many changes over the last year. We realize that many of you have not been able to come into the whole building for over a year and there have been many great changes. Come see the room layouts, the Kinder Corner, the conference rooms, the new cafeteria furniture and set up, the athletic team picture wall, the redesigned library and commons area, but most of all, come and see the great teachers and staff that we have at Wiley. We are very proud of the work that has been put into the school to give your students an incredible environment to learn in.
NOTE: Students will need to go home after school and return with their parents. Students are not allowed just to stay after school.
Dinner will be provided free of charge, no need to bring anything.
4:30-5:00 Teachers and school personnel will have a chance to have their meal.
5:00-6:15 Dinner will be available in the cafeteria, seating is available in the cafeteria, or
the commons area.
You will also be allowed to explore the building and say hello to some of the
teachers in their classrooms.
6:30-7:00 Introduction of staff and Superintendent Welcome
7:00-7:30 All HS fall athletic parent meeting.

In response to questions on the Covid health and safety protocols I am providing the following information on masks in school. There are not any official mandates from the State or Local Government as of today, only recommendations. Currently, we as a district, are able to
determine the health protocols for our school district independent of any state or county mandate.
In order to provide the least restrictive educational environment for our students, Wiley School District will not require masks to be worn at our school, during practices or on educational trips. However, any student or staff member that wishes to wear a mask will be welcome to do so
without incident, and will be protected with their choice. We will also not be collecting data on Covid vaccines for students or staff, unless mandated by law.
As of now, we are able to make this determination as a district, although this could change very soon. The State Government has issued guidance that they are recommending that all children
and educators be required to wear a mask during school. This is a recommendation from the State and is not currently a mandate as of now. The State has sent guidance to the County
Health Department to make rules and mandates to require masking. The County HealthDepartment has been given the authority, by law, to initiate and enforce whatever health protocols they deem to be necessary in the name of public safety. The Prowers County
Department of Public Health and Environment has not issued any such mandates as of the writing of this letter.
As the Superintendent of Wiley School District it is my duty to help provide the best educational environment possible for all of our students and staff. I am trying to protect the social emotional
health and academic growth for everyone in our district. I will continue to keep the public informed should any mandate be initiated. You can find further details of our Reopening Plan on our website wileyschool.org.
Thank you.
