PUBLIC RELEASE Community Eligibility Provision Wiley School District is participating in a Universal Breakfast and Lunch Program for the current school year (2023-2024). All students enrolled at Wiley School may participate in the breakfast/lunch program at no charge to them. However, the application for free/reduced meals is used for many things besides school food. Filling out the application helps us receive additional program opportunities from the state to better serve Wiley students. As Colorado moves to free school meals, this application is still extremely important in getting us funding, program opportunities, and state support for change. Please help us and your child by filling out the application. We appreciate your participation and investment in your child's future. The school breakfast and lunch that we serve follows U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines for healthy school meals. The Universal Meals Program cannot succeed without your support; please encourage your children to participate in school meal programs. All meals will be served to all students at no charge regardless of the eligibility status. Hi Wiley Staff, Students and Families! Just over a week and the 2023-24 school year will be under way! The school administrative team and I have themed this year "Under Construction!" We have been busy trying to construct a successful start to the 2023-24 school year. Much of that construction deserves a huge thank you to Mr. Bart Michael and his crew for the tremendous amount of work they have done this summer to help outfit Wiley School with new flooring, new paint, and new furniture. The school looks great! Another welcome to the new staff joining the Wiley team this year and a warm welcome back to our wonderful returning staff. Your hard work and dedication to Wiley students, families, and community is appreciated and does not go unnoticed. I am anticipating a productive two days of preparation, "construction," with staff on Monday August 14th and Tuesday August 15th. I know many staff members have been at school already setting up their classrooms to be welcoming learning spaces for students. I challenge all of us, including myself, to continue to make Wiley school the positive place that welcomes all and makes all students feel cared for and excited about their learning journey. Between the school day, extra-curricular activities and other events, many students spend as much time with us, or more, than they do at home. Each day, and for every one of our students, we have the ability to make their day great or simply make it better. It is a choice, each and every one of us can make as we enter the new school year. Our frame of mind, enthusiasm, compassion, humor and appreciation of all that we have is projected onto our students and the experiences they have each day. What we do, how we react, and the environment we create is so important for students to feel successful in our classrooms. Fall sports and activities are getting underway and students are ready to proudly represent the Wiley Panthers! I look forward to cheering on your dedication, skill, and success. I know all Willey participants will compete with pride and dignity and promote good sportsmanship befitting Wiley Panther tradition! I'm excited to see all the smiling faces of students, staff, and parents next week and celebrate the beginning of the school year with you all. Families, thank you for entrusting your student's education to us. Ms. Erin Brophy, Superintendent

Elementary Registration
Hello from the Special Education Department! With the 2023-2024 school year approaching, Iwanted to take the opportunity to thank the Panther students, staff, and community for welcoming me, Cheyanne Adame, as the new Special Education Director and Social Emotional Counselor. I hold a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate, and I hold the National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential from the National Board of Certified Counselors. During the 2022-23 school year, I was able to spend time in Wiley School as a school-based therapist through a local community mental health center. In this role, I came to know the staff and students here and knew it was a place that I would be honored to serve. This will be my first year as a school based educator, but I have experience as a youth therapist for ages 2-21 and feel that I will be able to use this experience and training to meet the needs of Wiley students in unique and innovative ways that also promote mental health and wellbeing. I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve students through both teaching and offering mental health support (more information on this to come!). Along with my onboarding, I am excited to share that we have added to our Paraprofessional team at Wiley for the 2023-24 school year, allowing for comprehensive care and support of our students to help reach their learning needs and goals! New Paraprofessionals joining the team: Amy Pryor Bekka Bennett (kindergarten aide) Sheila Anderson Returning Paraprofessionals: Annette Coen (preschool) Regina Mason (preschool) Cassie Gallegos McKenzie Middleton (Teacher in Training) Jaelin Parker Mayra Salgado To the parents/guardians of current students involved with the Special Education Department, I know that transitions can be hard. I want to encourage all of you to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. In fact, I would be more than happy to spend some time with your child(ren) to get to know them and allow them to get to know me prior to the start of the school year if needed or interested! If you would like to set up a meeting with me or set up a time to meet your student(s), you can contact me at the school, as I am in the building most mornings 8am-12pm. I will also be at the registration days and look forward to meeting all of you and your students! Sincerely, Cheyanne Adame Special Education Director Wiley School District cheyanne.adame@wileyschool.org 719-829-4806

PART 2 I would like to welcome all of our new families, whether you are joining us from another school or from another community. We are excited to share all that Wiley Elementary has to offer with you and believe you will soon feel as we do, that Wiley Elementary is a special place for all children. Our teachers, support staff, and families are ready to welcome you into our Panther Family! I am also excited to announce that we have adopted a new math curriculum that will better meet the needs of our students. The teachers put in many extra hours last school year researching and exploring new math curriculums. They participated in many virtual conversations with curriculum specialists, gathered data, and made a recommendation to the School Board. Please know that there are three scheduled professional development opportunities for teachers to learn best practices for delivering the highest quality of math instruction based on the new curriculum. I look forward to the start of the new school year and to continuing our collaboration of providing your child(ren) with an effective and engaging educational experience. As always, we will look to our families to be positive partners in this year’s journey. Wiley Elementary staff will prioritize working together as a caring and compassionate learning community with professionalism, teamwork, action, and expertise. We will always put the best interests of our students at the center of our purpose. Join us in ensuring the success of all Wiley’s students. My door will be open and our team welcomes your input. Please feel free to contact me via email at the address below or call to speak with me to discuss any ideas, questions, or concerns that you may have. Let's make this a great year! Sincerely, Dusty Eikenberg PK-5 Principal/ Wiley Elementary dusty.eikenberg@wileyschool.org 719-829-4806

PART 1 Dear Panther Families, It is my honor and a pleasure to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year! I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable summer break. There have been many exciting changes happening throughout the summer months and I would like to take this opportunity to give you an update. Foremost, I am extremely proud to serve as the Principal of Wiley Elementary. I am extremely grateful to be a part of this amazing learning community, as well as being a support to our students, staff, and community. This will be my first year as principal but my 14th year in education. I have taught 4th, 5th, and 7th grade and have served as assistant and interim Principal. Our school has been transformed by several remodeling projects this summer. We were able to have new flooring placed in the hallways throughout the entire school. Each elementary classroom is now carpeted. The hallways and door frames have all been painted throughout the building. Each one of the elementary classrooms are getting new desks and chairs. The floor in each of the gyms have been replaced. This project should be wrapping up soon. Our school looks amazing and we cannot wait to show it off to the students, staff, and community. None of this could have been accomplished without the help and hard work of our maintenance crew. Each and everyone of them have put in many long hours to make all of these changes happen this year. With that said, I would like to personally say “Thank You” to Bart Michael and his great crew. The dedicated staff at Wiley Elementary have been working tirelessly to fine-tune instructional models, engage in professional learning opportunities, and update class routines and expectations, all with the goal of fostering academic success. Our teachers are eager to meet their new students and begin this year’s journey with them. Our primary goal is to ensure student proficiency in core academic subjects. We will continue to analyze data, conduct observations, and review classwork to guide instruction and intervention. We will work together to create a solid foundation for our students so that they have the opportunity to become self-directed learners, collaborative teammates, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens. We will continue to offer intervention services for diverse learners through specialized programs, counseling when appropriate, and differentiated levels of instruction to meet the needs of many learning styles. Providing your child(ren) the opportunity to attend a public school that offers small class sizes and a true community feel is important. With the approval of the School Board, we were able to hire new staff to keep our classes at reasonable sizes. In grades 2nd through 5th, there will be two classroom teachers. This has allowed us to keep the class sizes between 9-15 students. It is the intention to have two teachers per grade in the next year or two. I am very excited to announce that we are fully staffed for the 2023-2024 school year and ready to serve the students of Wiley and surrounding communities. Creating “Smart Teams'' amongst the staff was a priority for this school year. Returning staff have embraced change and some have volunteered to move grade levels so that we could form strong teams supportive of each other's abilities. Please find below a list of our classroom teachers. We also have a new Superintendent, Mrs. Erin Brophy, that we are excited to have joined our staff. By logging on to Alma, you will be able to see which teacher your child(ren) has been assigned to. Preschool- Mrs. Yeni Wagner, Ms. Annette Coen, and Mrs. Regina Mason Kindergarten- Mrs. Ramona Morgan and Mrs. Rebecca Bennett (Full Time Aide) First Grade- Miss Alisha Pettitt Second Grade- Mrs. Lauren Mahan and Mrs. Claudia Terrazas Third Grade- Mrs. Meghan Forgey and Miss Jessica Millspaugh Fourth Grade- Mrs. Brianne Brown and Mrs. Amy McCoy Fifth Grade- Mrs. Heidi Choat and Mrs. Jacki May Elementary Physical Education- Ms. Laurie Larrick

JH/HS registration 2023
Dear Panther Families, It is hard to believe that we are already gearing up for the 2023-2024 school year. With the new year approaching, there have been some very exciting changes happening throughout the buildings and school district that I would like to give you an update. As most of you know, I will no longer be serving as the PK-12th grade principal. Although I loved my time in that role, I am extremely excited to have another principal in the district, Mr. Dusty Eikenberg. Mr Eikenberg will be acting as the PK-5th grade principal and I will be acting as the 6th-12th grade principal. Along with the addition of Mr. Eikenberg, we have also added Mrs. Erin Brophy to our team as the superintendent. The three of us will be working together to make Wiley School District the best that it can be. Along with some changes in administration, we also made some changes throughout the interior of the school building. One of the most notable changes made is that all floors have been replaced in every single hallway and the cafeteria. The elementary school also got new carpet in their classrooms. We also were able to replace both gym floors. None of these projects would have been possible without the hard work from Bart Michael and his crew. They put in a lot of hours and sweat to get our school looking as amazing as it does. We are so excited to get students and parents back in the building to see the updates that we have made, and we hope that you enjoy them just as much as we do! Not only have we been doing some updates to actual school building, but we have made some additions to our teaching staff as well. Our new staff include: Cheyenne Adame - Special Education Alyssa Carty - Music Melissa Elliott - JH/HS Science & Math Cody Elwin - P.E. & Weights Hadlie McDowell - Business Ryan Pettis - 6th grade We are beyond excited that these talented individuals have joined our Panther Family and look forward to each of you meeting each of them and working with them while they provide your child(ren) with the best education possible. Our wonderful returning staff include: Leandra Chavez - Art Shae Krentz - Social Studies & JH ELA Kacey Parrish - Math Nicole Piner - Social Studies/Spanish Robin Prosser - HS ELA & Academic Advising Samantha Reese - Ag & FFA Dean Thompson - Science We are very fortunate to have such an amazing teaching staff!! Student registration days are coming up next week. Registration times will be from 9am - 1pm. Your student can expect to get a copy of their schedule and their chrome book during this time. If you have questions pertaining to registration days, please call the office. New Student Registration - July 31st Junior Student Registration - August 1st High School Registration - August 2nd. Wiley School District will be offering Free School Lunches through the Healthy School Meals for All which allows public School Food Authorities (SFAs) participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs to provide free meals to all students beginning School Year 2023-24. To our new families, we are grateful that you have chosen Wiley Junior/Senior High School as your choice of schools to send your child. We know that you will enjoy your time while you are with us and we look forward to building that relationship with both you and your student(s). Please know that your child’s education is of utmost importance to me and want to make school a great place for each and every child that walks through our doors.
